STRATEGY: FOOD SERVICE GUIDELINES
Bringing Local & Healthy Food to the Community
Our work in food service focuses on implementing local-level policies and activities that promote food service and nutrition guidelines and associated healthy food procurement in facilities, programs, or organizations where food is sold, served, or distributed.
The Overall Goals of the Food Service Guidelines Are To:
Increase purchasing and distribution of local foods.
1
Increase access to healthier foods.
2
Data shows that a more robust healthy food system improves health behaviors and outcomes, and reduces chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.
